With her 2021 album »Fatigue«, L'Rain shook up the emotional landscapes of listeners and the music year itself: Paste Magazine described it as »a breathtaking, immersive, often mournful exploration of the fundamentally transformative, ever-changing nature of feeling«; while The Wire wasn't the only one to name it album of the year. Now, the multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and curator Taja Cheek has released her third album as L'Rain: with »I Killed Your Dog«, she continues her exploration of grief and identity, engaging in the form of a conversation with her younger self. You can hear from the music that this self is inspired by gospel, R&B, and indie rock in equal measure. L'Rain condenses styles from folk to synthesizer pop to noise rock, with an eclectic elegance, humorously experimenting with fragments, interludes and short messages. The »theatrical, elliptical, and bewitching mood« of the new album was once again named »Best New Music« by Pitchfork magazine. And will now be performed live at Kampnagel, where guitarist and singer L'Rain and her band will demonstrate how contemporary pop can (and should) sound today.

Support comes from performer and musician Embaci. Since her debut with the music collective NON-Worldwide and collaborations with artists such as Elysia Crampton and Klein, she has established herself as an exceptional avant-pop artist.
