Wellness is often thought of in terms of physical fitness and healthy eating, but it is also important to consider the emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects of well-being. Indigenous peoples from Africa and other parts of the world have developed a range of holistic practices to promote wellness and healing. This workshop will explore some of these traditional practices and consider their relevance for contemporary well-being.

Martha Sambe, a spiritual practitioner who utilizes techniques from different indigenous spiritual systems, will facilitate this workshop on indigenous wellness practices and traditional healing. Through the use of herbs, plants, natural remedies, and meditation practices, she will guide participants on how to incorporate wellness into their daily lives. Participants will be able to learn and experience some of these practices firsthand through interactive sessions and demonstrations. They will also discuss how these practices can be adapted for contemporary wellness.

The workshop will be an interactive session lasting two to three hours. The workshop is intended to be a safe space where participants can learn, share, and improve on practices that support their overall well-being.
