Come what may: football is and remains an omnipresent part of German society and has its permanent place not least in news broadcasts and daily newspapers. Football is also one of the most important sports worldwide and transcends the boundaries between social classes and cultures – whether watching or playing itself. Football is deeply anchored culturally and economically in many countries, and national football successes, in addition to great pride, joy and honour, sometimes also bring about social change and have political explosive power. In the MOSAIK FC project, the Migrantpolitan team is looking at the many levels that sport entails, analysing and deconstructing the culture and politics surrounding football. In the first part of the project, a video episode will be published online every Saturday at prime time from December onwards, with panel discussions, music performances, insights into the various venues of Euro 2004 and entertainment formats.
