Mocky and Friends

Expect anything: Musical maniac Mocky invites his friends.

If anyone has earned the title of jack-of-all-trades, it’s Los Angeles-based Canadian Giancarlo Salole, aka Mocky. Any one of his songs, which he seems conjure up effortlessly, transmits as many ideas as other artists do in their entire careers. The list of his collaborators is just as long as the number of his musical styles. He played punk music under the name The Shit with his Canadian friends Chilly Gonzales and Peaches, and Jamie Lidell calls him a »one man Motown rhythm section.« He has given musical life to the legendary hand puppets of Puppetmastaz, and as a producer and tour musician he has worked with the outstanding Feist. After two overwhelming concerts at Kampnagel, most recently at the Überjazz Festival in 2015, he now returns to Hamburg to present his concert evening »Mocky and Friends«, for which he will invite some of his friends to play with him right after Socalled’s musical with a bunch of Canadians and funk legend Fred Wesley. Mocky’s confirmed friends include: Joey Dosik (Fender Rhodes), Taylor Savvy (bass) and Yannick Hiwat (strings), and those who know Mocky can imagine that there’s a high probability that further guests will make an appearance, resulting in a legendary evening and an explosive club experience.
