An old man is sleeping on a wooden table. The table and the entire room are covered in wood panelling. And there are three chairs at the table. The room looks like a courtroom and is completely empty except for the sleeping man.

In 2016, the United Nations launched an investigation in the UK that found "grave or systematic violations" of the rights of people with disabilities in the context of the changing benefits system. The mixed reality experience MUSEUM OF AUSTERITY invites visitors into a holographic gallery providing a close-up look at what happens when the rhetoric of the state and the lived experience of citizens tell different stories. The project won the IDFA DocLab Award for immersive non-fiction for its impressive combination of digital technologies and inclusive storytelling.
