National Dance Summit

The NATIONAL DANCE SUMMIT is a four-day festival and networking event for the national and international street / club dance scene – and the crowning finale of an interdisciplinary research project. Here, its findings are translated into creative, critical stage performances and shared with a broader audience. Since December 2024, a delegation of street / club dance artists has been visiting partner venues Kampnagel (Hamburg), tanzhaus nrw (Düsseldorf), Heizhaus (Leipzig), and Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm (Frankfurt). The focus: reimagining the collaboration between cultural institutions and street / club dance communities. How can the discourses and aesthetics of these scenes evolve within institutional contexts? Alongside the crews DIE ANTWORT (Hamburg), GEMS CREW (Dresden / Leipzig), DÈJÀVU CREW (Frankfurt), and nutrospektif (NRW), institutions and local communities exchanged ideas with regional and international experts, sharing insights through digital think tanks. At Kampnagel, the threads converge: Through performances, workshops, and discussions, the festival drafts a vision for the scene’s vibrant future— locally rooted and globally connected.
