Nguyen Phuong-Dan, the cultural anthropologist with a strong interest in experimental and eclectic music, and DJ from the Golden Pudel scene, presents a new series at Kampnagel. He has developed this as part of the ‘One Hundred People Say Umbrella’ project in the Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof (together with Anna Sabrina Schmid). Now at Kampnagel he presents the pioneering greats of art and music and enables them to meet the young generation of creative artists.

In the third part of the series we welcome two futuristic creatures, who step into the spotlight as Weisser Westen. They come kitted out with Apollonian handicaps – masks and armour between constructivism and Dada. ‘The Earth is a disc,’ they declare, as they proclaim their theories on evolution, alternative genres and technologies, and on art as a real existing parallel universe. In a world in which we subjugate artistic expression of a relativistic, levelling, unified view, Weisser Westen strikes a blow for artistic stubbornness and megalomaniacal inadequacy. You need to experience the results for yourself. They realise their all-encompassing work of art live with smoke and wind machines, mirrors and spotlights. The evening is framed by moments including a DJ set by visual artist Alison Yip. Moreover, Hamburg artist Thomas Baldischwyler will present his mobile audio installation, ‘Sustainable Skip Storage’.
