Poets from Black Europe
With Jason Allen-Paisant, Lubi Barre, Kalaf Epalanga
Past dates
4/22/23
7:00 PM
An evening of poetry that crosses national and continental borders with poets from the Black Diaspora in Europe. Their poetry moves between personal experiences, collective and universal mythologies and is rooted in different traditions: from the chant of the African poetic tradition to European poetry. The poets do not limit themselves to themes such as identity, womanhood, blackness, masculinity, racism or colonial violence. Rather, they emphasise the diversity of aesthetic and artistic positions that emerge in and from a European environment.
The poets are:
- Jason Allen-Paisant, poet, author and editor of "Callaloo: Journal of African Diaspora Arts and Letters", lecturer in Critical Theory and Creative Writing, University of Manchester
- Lubi Barre, poet, writer, co-organiser of the AHAB and Harbour Reading series, literary curator Fluctoplasma Festival
- Kalaf Epalanga, writer, columnist, musician, co-founder of the record label Enchufada
- Moderation: Alexandra Antwi-Boasiako, moderator, curator and literary ambassador for the African Book Festival Berlin
