Few musicians achieve such versatility and virtuosity when striking keys on the camp keyboard of pop than the Canadian-American composer and musician Rufus Wainwright. Instead of touring the world’s top concert halls with his euphorically acclaimed new album »Unfollow The Rules«, Wainwright has spent the last few months in lockdown in his LA home, along with his German husband, daughter and dog for company. His ‘Quarantunes’ series of daily online performances – featuring Wainwright in his dressing gown live from his living room – has been a source of much-needed enjoyment and light in these tricky times.

Meanwhile at Kampnagel, the Summer Festival has successfully shown that - with a thorough health and safety protocol and reduced capacity - performances are able to take place again. So when we heard that the Wainwright family would soon be travelling to Europe, we asked our friend Rufus at short notice to play two special solo concerts, his first appearance in front of an audience since leaving his quarantine living room. In his only performance in Germany this year, Wainwright will debut songs from »Unfollow the Rules«, the album he describes as his ‘coming out as a seasoned songwriter', charting the overcoming of a biographical minefield of wounds and pain. This is the ninth studio album from the dazzling artist whose impressive take on popular music history also includes two operas, symphonic works, film music and various collaborations with artists such as Elton John, Joni Mitchell and Jessye Norman.

SPECIAL RULES FOR TICKET PURCHASE

Due to corona virus, the capacity in the hall k6 is reduced: Every second row will remain free with appropriate distance between seats. In the front middle block, we also offer grouped seating for four contiguous people, with a 1.5m distance to the next group. These 4-seat tickets are not dislpayed in the online seating plan and are only sold by phone, currently these 4-seats are still available. Through our online webshop, which can be accessed through the ticket links on our website, it is possible to also book single and double seats. Single seats with 1,5m distance to the next person are the side seats 1 and 34 in each row (except 7th and 9th row). All other seats are seats for 2 persons with 1,5m distance to the next group of 2 persons. Unfortunately, our seating plan cannot show if one seat out of two has already been bought by another person. So if you book a single seat that is not number 1 or 34 (except in rows 7 and 9), the seat next to it has already been bought by another person and you agree to sit next to this other person. This also applies if you buy only one seat from a group of 2, the 2nd seat will then be sold to another person accordingly.
