As city dwellers we are constantly moving around in a never-ending dance: glances and actions intersect, bodies in motion create ever-changing constellations. These organisational dynamics in urban spaces raise questions about choreography and participation. What sort of performance gatherings can choreography create, and how can the audience support these without themselves becoming performers in the process? In MANEUVERS / GROOVE SPACE, the second instalment of the three year research and performance series GROOVE SPACE, Sebastian Matthias’ team meets Swiss artist Nino Baumgartner and his tactical performance actions (manoeuvres). Combining with Paul Norman’s compositions, dance and sound seek to resonate with an encompassing urban groove.
