Derya Yıldırım has been spearheading Turkish-European crossover for several years. The singer and multi-instrumentalist grew up in Hamburg-Veddel, learned piano, guitar, ud, saxophone and bağlama, and eventually studied at the music academy in Hamburg. In 2014, she founded Grup Şimşek, a European ensemble that combined Middle Eastern quarter-tone music with Western European harmonies and was soon considered an important update of advanced Turkish pop music of the 1970s; “Dost 2,” their third album, was released last year. At Kampnagel, Yıldırım has performed with different projects, most recently with Ensemble Resonanz at Summer Festival 2020. Now Derya Yıldırım plays a concert at St. Gertrud Church – solo, only with vocals and her Turkish bağlama lute. After the concert: Summer Festival closing party at Kampnagel!

In cooperation with St. Gertrud Kirche. With the kind support of Ilse und Dr. Horst Rusch Stiftung.
