In 1996, people danced and celebrated on dancefloors worldwide to “From Disco to Disco,” the track with which the experimental house collective Whirlpool Productions defined the sound of the second half of the 90s (and which was recently played again at the Hugo Boss fashion show in Miami with Pamela Anderson and Naomi Campbell). Part of the collective was Eric D. Clark: the DJ, professor, author, curator and producer started mixing genres back in the “vinyl only” days and has been providing stylistic diversity in the clubs as a DJ for 40 years. At Summer Festival, he plays on a club night that takes various influences from Black and also gay/queer club culture (also the subject of HEART OF BRICK by serpentwithfeet), and pays tribute to the origins of electronic club music. Performing alongside Clark are: DJ, promoter, selector and Kampnagel homie Best Boy Electric, who now spins worldwide themself and brings classic Detroit electro to the floor. This night is completed by Crystallmess, who not only made music for Adam & Amina Seid Tahir's piece, but also exhibits as a media artist in museums and is celebrated as a DJ from Berghain to Primavera Festival.
