Trevor Mathison has written British art and film history with his profound soundscapes throughout his 40-year career. As a founding member of the iconic Black Audio Film Collective, his sound designs defined the group’s work, including “Handsworth Songs” and “The Last Angel of History“, which remain among the most influential film essays of its time. The latter has influenced Afrofuturism as did one of its appearing characters, the music legend Sun Ra. Mathison also composed music for over 30 award-winning films by artists such as John Akomfrah and Issac Julien, whose “Looking for Langston” inspired serpentwithfeet’s Summer Festival premiere HEART OF BRICK. With Hallucinator, Flow Motion, and Dubmorphology, Mathison furthermore founded several sound and performance groups, with which he realized installations at Tate Modern and Goldsmiths CCA, among others. With SONIC VIBRATIONS, he continues his exploration of sonic architecture and creates two several hour-long performances at Kunstverein in Hamburg. Here, Mathison combines live field recordings with sounds from plants into improvised, hypnotic and deeply moving music evenings.

In collaboration with Kunstverein in Hamburg and Easterfield Festival.
