»Satellite Business«

The concert of Sampha in the Grand Hall of Elbphilharmonie on Sunday evening unfortunately had to be stopped after 30 minutes. The hall was evacuated because a fog extinguishing system underneath the stage was triggered for reasons that are still unclear. There was no danger to guests, artists or staff at any time. Ticket holders will be contacted as soon as possible by the Kampnagel International Summer Festival in cooperation with Elbphilharmonie.

London-based artist Sampha has left his mark on global music production over the past decade with emotional depth: As a producer or guest vocalist, he has worked with Solange, Kendrick Lamar and Alicia Keys, among others; and with his debut album »Process«, he released a contemplative reflection on loss, grief and self-discovery in 2017, which was awarded the coveted British Mercury Music Prize. His second album »Lahai« followed in the fall of 2023, named after his grandfather, also his own middle name, and inspired by the birth of his daughter. DER SPIEGEL described »Lahai« as «a soulful statement that oscillates enchantingly between beauty and nervousness, soul, jazz and avant-pop.« Repetitive minimal music patterns alternate with warm soul sounds and hyper-nervous drum'n'bass beats, which wrap themselves around Sampha's fragile falsetto vocals like a nervous blanket and make the emotional complexity of this seminal music palpable. To the Elbphilharmonie, as part of the Kampnagel International Summer Festival, Sampha brings his »Satellite Business« show, a special concert in a 360-degree setting.
