Shari Vari / Love-Songs
Konzert
Past dates
8/27/20
8:00 PM
A double concert night between experimental pop, electroacoustics and jazzy kraut rock.
Under the name Shari Vari, Helena Ratka and Sophia Kennedy release experimental pop from minimalist cold avant-garde sounds and chanson references. On the programmatic »Now«, the Hamburg duo's second album released in 2019, they unfold loose stories in eight chapters, which are deeply rooted in the Now and provide a refreshing change to the desire for everything from the past that is widespread in pop. The lyrics and vocals of Sophia Kennedy, who has released much acclaimed music under her name on DJ Kozes Pampa label (and has performed several times at the International Summer Festival), are a highly contemporary version of the singer/songwriter tradition. Helena Ratka, who also works as a filmmaker and DJ, musically complements this concept. The second show of the evening will feature the Love-Songs, which will present their debut album »Nicht Nicht«, released on Bureau B. The electro-acoustic trio of Thomas Korf, Sebastian Kokus and Manuel Chittka combines the compositional freedom of jazz with Krautrock quotations and a sense for pop aesthetics.
