When Yvonne Büdenhölzer, director of the renowned Berlin Theatertreffen, introduced the 50 per cent women's quota in 2019, she was sharply criticized. The cultural journalists Sabine Leucht, Petra Paterno and Katrin Ullmann take these questions as the starting point for their publication. In it, female talk about female aesthetics and working methods, about successes, hurdles and the impact and meaning of the quota. The editors want to know: What is artistic work in the theatre like for women? What changes does a quota system in directing bring? Where do structural inequalities exist and how could these be remedied in the future? At Kampnagel, two of the three editors, Katrin Ullmann and Sabine Leucht, will present their book and discuss it with Pınar Karabulut (director and designated co-director of Schauspielhaus Zürich), Jessica Weisskirchen (director and founder of the assistierenden-netzwerk and the Assistierenden-Festival SUMMER UP and board member of ensemble-netzwerks e.V.) and Kerstin Steeb (music theater director and board member of Pro Quote Bühne).
