The Egyptian Lover / Fünf Sterne Soundsystem

In the Los Angeles of the early 1980s, Egyptian Lover combined the beats of the now iconic Roland TR- 808 drum machine with Vocoder raps inspired by Prince. As a result, out of hip-hop emerged the futuristic »electro« and Egyptian Lover became a mythical founding figure for this genre and an inspiration for, among others, contemporary trap music. He influenced producers like Dr. Dre and cheekily sees himself as an inspiration for Kraftwerk, claiming they always took note of his music as they hung around in Los Angeles in the 1980s. The great Stones Throw compilation »Egyptian Lover 1983- 1988« offers a splendid insight into his world of this time. For the opening party of the International Summer Festival, Egyptian Lover is performing one of his live shows, which have left audiences stunned for over 30 years.

In honor of his excellent suggestion to mark August 8, 2018 by focusing on the 808, the Fünf Sterne Soundsystem will join, adding good mood and danceable border crossing. Two MCs (Das Bo + Luis Baltes) and two DJs (Coolmann + Plazebo) make algorithms dance and do what else they want.
