The fact that there is once again a Jewish literature in Germany today is not a matter of course. Even though there is much that separates the writers gathered here, they are united by Jewish socialization and traditions as well as a fragile relationship with the German majority society. In the context of October 7, despite all their differences - political, personal and artistic - this volume brings together 16 writers to write prose pieces, stories and essays about what moves and concerns them.

Dana von Suffrin and Marina Frenk will introduce the book in German. Afterwards, Jossi Reich (aka Joe Fleisch) will play a live concert with the Jewish Monkeys. This legendary band has been a regular guest at Kampnagel for years and plays Yiddish folk with a Balkan flavour and a healthy dose of ska, reggae, afrobeat and indie rock. Maxim Biller wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung about their satirical, socially critical songs: »Had Hitler not almost won the war, this is what Jewish pop music would sound like: naturally stoned, fast and incredibly melancholy.«

A cooperation with the Jüdischer Salon am Grindel as part of the 11th Lange Nacht der Literatur Hamburg.

Presented by ByteFM.
