In their 48th year of existence, San Francisco’s The Residents are still considered one of avant-garde pop music’s most influential representatives. Over more than 60 albums and countless spectacular stage shows, the band has perpetually reinvented itself. In the process, it left an audible impact on the development of punk, noise-rock and industrial music. Thanks to their very early use of sampling technology, they are considered pioneers of hip-hop and club music, and even contemporary stars, like Nicolas Jaar and Kesha, were influenced by The Residents’ musical experiments. In their new show, the band -- this time dressed as plague doctors from the 17th and 18th centuries -- invites audience-members into a dreamland. They will perform a selection of their approximately 500-song catalogue, supplemented by new material.
