Over two evenings, the eighth ÜBERJAZZ Festival will once again present more than 20 contemporary genre-busters in four halls at Kampnagel. Thundercat, the omnipresent don of the bass, will be the festival’s headliner and his hometown of Los Angeles – represented by Moses Sumney, Carlos Niño and Miles Mosley -- will once again one of its points of emphasis. The most American-focused festival in recent ÜBERJAZZ history will also include Robert Glasper, in a form that has never appeared at the event, as well as Christian Scott, Tank and The Bangas, Chris Dave & The Drumhedz and »conscious« rapper Oddisee. It will also explore London’s status as a city of musical inspiration, with Zara McFarlane, Kamaal Williams, Yussef Dayes, Poppy Ajudha and Ü BERJAZZ return guests Portico Quartet. Meanwhile, Swiss Echojazz- winner Lucia Cadotsch will show that the German-speaking world has major talents of its own.
