Magic Island

Hardly a year goes by without a new album by Jamie Stewart and his queer art-music project, Xiu Xiu. Each one is simultaneously a new beginning and a continuation of their radical sound studies combining noise catharsis and schizo-pop. Their newest work, »Forget,« once again expands their musical spectrum with ideas derived from minimalist club music and, as the title suggests, deals with subjects like death, forgetting and suppression. Alongside Xiu Xiu band members Shayna Dunkelman (percussion) and Angela Seo (synths), the album includes contributions by queer artist Vaginal Davis and Swans guitarist Kristof Hahn. The supporting act is Canadian synth-pop dreamer Emma Czerny, aka Magic Island.
