[Still] Claiming Common Spaces
10 years Alliance of International Production Houses
Intro The Alliance of International Production Houses is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an artistic stocktaking that seeks new (cultural) political answers and formulates artistic echoes to a constantly more repressive politics. With the 7th edition of the CLAIMING COMMON SPACES festival, the topics dominating the election campaign will be bundled and negotiated from different artistic perspectives - whether by means of wrestling, as with CHOKE HOLE, who use drag, fake and spectacle to challenge the theatricality of politics and make a clear statement in favour of the non-negotiability of LGBTIAQ+ rights. Or with a look into the past to point out the deficits of the present, as Lina Majdalanie and Rabih Mroué do. Or with old forms of peaceful protest, such as Oozing Gloop, who is using a work based on Kafka motifs in the festival installation BED-IN. Whether in one of the discourse formats or in other forms: A festival is also always an echo chamber in which exchange and dialogue can take place in order to jointly agree on the values of a progressive society. Still claiming common spaces, still claiming diversity and inclusion!
