Angel Olsen‘s postmodern lyrics are aimless, raw, associative, and can barely be described as song lyrics. They also circle, in the best folk tradition, around existential subjects. Always in the search for a genuine expression, Olsen reaches a bloodcurdling intensity in her singing – so much so that Spex has admiringly described her as Nancy Sinatra with a hangover. Her musical reservoir reaches from fingerpicking folk to psychedelic electronic music. Her new album, »My Woman« (to be released in September on Jagjaguwar), was produced by Justin Raisen, who has previously worked in the studio with Charli XCX and Santigold.
