With her third album »Abyss« (Sacred Bones), Annika Henderson a.k.a. Anika captures the raw intensity of our disruptive times. Recorded at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios, these ten tracks elevate her melancholic, apocalyptic vocals to psychedelic heights, offering an unfiltered view of reality. Songs like »One Way Ticket« and »Hearsay« tackle fascism and fake news, while the first single »Walk Away« is a disarming act of selfdeconstruction, blending ’90s grunge influences with the uncompromising no bullshit attitude of Courtney Love. A multi-talented artist – musician, writer, photographer, DJ, radio host, and video director – Anika continues to refine her unique fusion of dub, postpunk, and psychedelia. From her self-titled debut »Anika« (2010) with Geoff Barrow (Portishead) and Beak> to the pandemic shaped record »Change,« she has honed a sound both haunting and urgent. Now, following multiple performances at Kampnagel, including most recently a Nico tribute, Anika invites us to stare into the abyss with her. It may not be pretty, but it does sound incredible.
