"Folo Djelia“ - Traditional Griot Music
Dates

He is "a genius and living proof that the blues comes from Mali," says Taj Mahal about his colleague Bassekou Kouyate. Born in Mali in 1966, the musician is a master of the ngoni, a traditional West African long-necked lute, which he has made internationally famous by adding extra strings and using effects devices. With extraordinary dexterity, he moves between blues, jazz and traditional Malian music.
Bassekou Kouyate is now coming to Kampnagel with his traditional griot programme FOLODJELIA – a reinterpretation of his parents' music. He is accompanied by his wife, singer Amy Sacko, who is also part of his Grammy-nominated band Ngoni Ba. A concert with a chamber music character that gets under your skin.
