One call from Max Gruber (aka Drangsal) brought Annette Benjamin back to the studio and stage after 40 years. Born in 1960, Benjamin fronted the legendary punk band Hans-A-Plast during Germany’s first punk wave in the late '70s. Inspired by his musical idol, Gruber formed an exceptional supergroup around Annette Benjamin with members of Die Nerven, Beatsteaks, art-pop musician Charlotte Brandi, and himself. They recorded some of today's most vibrant songs—echoing the NDW-infused 1980s post-punk style, resonating strongly with the current punk revival.
Punk’s renewed relevance, according to Süddeutsche Zeitung, stems from today’s political climate: ''Punk is the type of pop that thrives on growing aggression.'' The supporting act Feige Flittchen, an art-punk trio of young artists and performers, pushes punk’s DIY ethos forward – proving Annette Benjamin right: ''Youth have the finest antennas for living in today’s world.''
