On the last day of the Performative Book Fair, we look into the future of the literary business. In the morning, two impulse lectures will provide food for thought:

First, Vera Hofmann will give a brief overview of the practice of commoning, without which rethinking cultural practice with anti-capitalist goals seems almost inconceivable today: the lecture will not only be about how socialisation can be thought, but will also outline where socialisation is already taking place and what we can learn from these approaches - also for our understanding of literature, text production and sharing knowledge about publication. How can intellectual property be rethought? Which areas of work and life can be wrested from capitalism and socialised? And above all: how should this happen when we are already overworked and marginalised?

Afterwards, Christiane Frohmann devotes herself to fundamental questions about the concept of "book" under the title "The Good Book: Enlightenment, Transfiguration, Glorification". After all, when organising a new book fair, it is worthwhile to think about what a book is in fact, what it could still become. Why is the printed book still accorded outstanding importance in Germany, even though fewer and fewer people are reading books? With what legitimation? Why does it always sound in many media discussions as if even the worst book is better than any other media representation? What does the book have to do with national identity and key industries? Many talk about the good book, but what is a good book? Are books the measure of all things when it comes to literature? Is literature the measure of all things when it comes to storytelling? What about books is exclusive, what is inclusive? The aim of the lecture is not to answer these questions definitively, but to make them plausible as important coordinates in reading, writing, publishing, mediating, criticising and classifying literature. Christiane Frohmann will be supported by her representatives on the internet, the Pre-Raphaelite Girls.

We appreciate if you do a Corona rapid test at home and wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces at the Book Fair. Those with cold symptoms: Instead of on site, you can take part in the discourse events via Zoom.
