(Save Me) Not

Hauptsache Frei is the festival of Hamburg's independent performing arts. Founded in 2015, the festival provides a platform for the artists of Hamburg's independent scene year after year and invites professionals from the scene from all over Germany to Hamburg for exchange and networking. Over two weeks, the festival becomes a platform for artistic productions, contemporary trends, aesthetic innovations, socio-political discourses and academic impulses.

Trigger warning: (successfully averted) violence and sexism are addressed. There are blackouts on stage at the beginning and end of the performance and loud music.

The narrative of the helpless woman is deeply embedded in western society. In fact, it does have an impact on self-perception and actions. (SAVE ME) NOT confronts the myth that women are the inherently weaker sex in the setting of a computer game. A humorous, empowering exploration of violence, victim and perpetrator roles, from which a heroine emerges.
