Every year, the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS organizes the Bucerius Summer School, a ten-day program focused on dialogue and networking, where around 50 emerging leaders from politics, business, media and NGOs meet with renowned experts. A core element of the program is a visit to the Summer Festival and the invitation of a speaker for a public event. This year’s guest is Yulia Navalnaya, one of Russia’s most prominent human rights activists. In a lecture followed by a discussion, Navalnaya will examine the current situation in Russia and speak about her work as a freedom fighter. Yulia Navalnaya, born in Moscow in 1976, graduated in International Economics from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and, along with her husband, the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was actively involved in the fight for democratic change in Russia. Following Alexei Navalny’s death, she announced that she will continue his work.
