23 magazines are to be closed down, 700 jobs cut – the news of Bertelsmann CEO Thomas Rabe's decision made big waves. The Kulturforum – in cooperation with the German Journalists' Association North – asks: What does this mean for the media metropolis of Hamburg? How will the magazine genre develop now and in the future? After all, Gruner&Jahr Verlag in its previous form had a similar status to large port operations. Where are the reading desires of the public going? What drives journalists to write for the type of magazines now being discontinued?

Jana Schiedek, State Councillor at the Department of Culture and Media, author Verena Carl and other panelists will discuss, moderated by Christoph Twickel (DIE ZEIT).
