The Gala for the Remembrance of Forced Labour is a plea for an empowering culture of remembrance and a dignified gesture that focuses on marginalised positions of the past and present. Artistic and discursive contributions address the topic of “Forced labour during National Socialism” and endowed prizes are awarded to marginalised artists. The gala sets an impulse for a respectful artistic confrontation with the past; negotiates questions of reparation, active and multi-perspective culture of remembrance, learning from National Socialism, continuities of injustice and the assumption of responsibility. The solemnity of the gala is an artistic attempt to restore the dignity that was taken away from the forced labourers, as well as their freedom, food and human rights. Prominent laudators and musical contributions.
