Marlene Monteiro Freitas

Choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas is recognized worldwide for her style-defining choreographies (most recently with BACANTES at the 2017 Summer Festival). For this year's festival, she is rehearsing her new work MAL – EMBRIAGUEZ DIVINA at Kampnagel, which will be premiered on 26.8. at K6. Throughout the festival, Freitas will also be showing a large-scale installation in the Vorhalle for hundreds of music stands created for the BoCA – Biennial of Contemporary Arts in Portugal. In CATTIVO these objects, normally carrying scores almost invisibly in the service of musicians, become subjects with feelings and longings. In a surreal world, populated by animals, plants, people and fantastic beings, and together with other objects, they create a highly musical community. And the Vorhalle transforms into an opulent landscape, lightly combining high and pop culture, humour and tragedy.

This year the summer festival takes place under special circumstances. Therefore it is important that we observe security measures to protect everyone and collect the contact information of our guests. This works without complications, but only with your help:

· Everywhere: Keep a distance of 1.5m, except in self-chosen groups of max. 10 people;

· In all indoor areas: Wear mouth-nose-protection, except in fixed seating areas;
