Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma have been making experimental electronic music between pop, art, club and avant-garde as Mouse on Mars for 25 years. With their anarchic sound mixes, they have become pioneers of experimental pop from Germany, have played large concert stages and museums worldwide, and have performed in Hamburg both at Kampnagel and in 2018 as part of the Kampnagel Summer Festival at the Elbphilharmonie. Now they present their twelfth album »AAI« (Anarchic Artificial Intelligence) with their longtime drummer Dodo NKishi. It is based on a text by writer and scientist Louis Chude-Sokei about an alternative history of race, technology, colonialism and futurism from the perspective of machine intelligence. Here, Chude-Sokei's voice is the source for a speech model algorithm through which the band interacts with the artificial intelligence, which in turn grows, learns, and speaks. Hypnotic polyrhythms and pulsating synthesizers propel the listener across the record’s expanse, which springs from a primordial sludge of rolling bass and shimmering electronics - presented as an expansive, audiovisual live show at the Kampnagel Club.
