Audio description is a form of accessibility for blind and visually impaired people. In art, its implementation challenges and at the same time creates endless possibilities. In a two-day workshop, those interested can playfully try out how to translate dance and performance into a descriptive language and develop their own approach to audio description practice. The workshop leaders Sophia Neises and Xenia Taniko create a space from a power-critical perspective to reflect internalized ableism and jointly reduce fear of contact with the topic of blindness and visual impairment.

The two-day workshop takes place in German via Zoom and is aimed at people who have experience in the performing arts. The number of participants is limited. To register, please send a short e-mail with your contact details (first name, surname and postal address), your accessibility requirements and one or two sentences about your artistic background to presse@kampnagel.de Please register by 02/14/2021 at the latest.

The online workshop 'Audiodescription - Privilegien des Sehens nutzen' runs within the framework of DRAWING IMAGES WITH WORDS, a project by Carolin Jüngst and Ursina Tossi. Supported by the NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK - STEPPING OUT, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of the initiative NEUSTART KULTUR. Hilfsprogramm Tanz.
