Two photos: Left: Two white men about 50, sitting on armchairs. In front of them two small tables, an ashtray. Right: white woman about 40 sitting on a table, legs drawn up, eyes closed. Purple fabric around her lower body, reminiscent of a mermaid.

»As if wandering through the bleakest landscapes of Caspar David Friedrich,« wrote a Rolling Stone critic about Joanna Gemma Auguri’s new album, »Hiraeth«. Westzeit hailed it as a »listening experience like no other,« one that contends with Beth Gibbons for the »throne of sadness.« At Kampnagel, the Berlin-based artist – formerly a member of Poems for Laila, curator at the iconic Bar 25, and a trained actress – performs her hyper-intense pop in a quartet, sharing the stage with Tarwater. This legendary Berlin duo, comprised of painter-musician Ronald Lippok and former East German punk, theater composer, and musician Bernd Jestram, recently ended a 10-year hiatus to release their 13th studio album, »Nuts of Ay«. Formed in 1995, their work references everything from Bowie and The Beatles to Popol Vuh. Featuring guest appearances from artists like Masha Qrella, Lars Rudolph, and Alva Noto, the album has been hailed by Musikexpress as a »masterpiece of electro-pop.«
