Nordwind Festival: Songs of a Melting Iceberg – Displaced Without Moving

The fourth edition of the biannual festival NORDWIND dares to build a geographic bridge: artists from arctic regions as well as African countries will be the focus. For many decades, artists with African or arctic-indigenous roots share the dilemma of being judged as either too assimilated or too caught in their own tradition. A new generation of artists is successfully placing its works in the context of an international market without denying its heritage. Titled “Songs of a melting ice- berg – Displaced without moving”, the festival sees itself as a utopian alternative to the sad dogma of a bipolar separation of body and spirit, sensuality and intelligence, pop culture and folklore as well as arts & crafts and high art.

NORDWIND is a cooperation of Kampnagel, Silent Green, SAVVY Contemporary, Kunstquartier Bethanien, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, XJAZZ Festival Berlin, Theater der Nationen in Moskau.
