Kulturretter:innen

Die Wanderausstellung

After stops in Leipzig and Cologne, the multimedia exhibition KULTURRETTER:INNEN is finally coming to the Kampnagel Foyer in Hamburg! Get to know cultural rescuers from four generations - people who were persecuted under National Socialism, offered resistance and saved culture for today. They hid pieces of jewelry and secretly distributed leaflets; their descendants today save music from oblivion, process memories in short stories, comics, works of art and lay stumbling blocks. The cultural rescuers empower, preserve and bring history into the here and now. We will celebrate the opening of the exhibition on September 27 in the presence of Kulturretter*innen, with talks and musical contributions.

Dear audience

From 25.09.2024 to 27.10.2024, the KULTURRETTER:INNEN touring exhibition was presented in the Kampnagel foyer and received great interest from many guests. The exhibition was a great highlight and an important part of our programme for the season opening and the following weeks! Unfortunately, we have to announce that for technical reasons the exhibition will not be re-installed at Kampnagel for a second exhibition period from 25 November 2024 as planned.

We have had to make this decision after it became apparent, despite careful planning and examination of safety precautions, that in practice the flow of people in the foyer is not compatible with the exhibition when there are large numbers of visitors, as people often stumbled and one person was injured. Particularly with regard to the risk of accidents and accessibility and even if we take into account specific suggestions for adapting the exhibition modules, we cannot risk any further incidents.

Anyone who had planned to visit the exhibition in November can still do so, at least digitally at www.kulturretterinnen.net. The planned panel on memorial sites scheduled for 26 November will still take place, and we will set up the exhibition module on Lagerhaus G on that evening for public viewing.

We would like to thank the exhibition management for the constructive discussions on this and ask the protagonists of the exhibition and our audience for your understanding regarding this decision.
