»Masha Qrella creates pop of the finest, smartest, and most intimate kind«, says not only Berlin music icon Gudrun Gut. In 2021, DER SPIEGEL also named Qrella's latest release, »Woanders«, its »Album of the Week«, praising it as »delightful pop music«. On this album, the musician, born in East Berlin in 1975, set Thomas Brasch's texts to music, collaborating with artists like Andreas Spechtl (Ja, Panik) and Tarwater—who will also perform at Kampnagel soon. In March, Qrella’s sixth studio album, »Songbook« (Staatsakt), will be released. It spans minimalist cover songs to pieces she composed for an award-winning radio play with Christiane Rösinger. This album underscores the remarkable versatility of the Berlin-based artist, who began her career 25 years ago playing instrumental post-rock with Contriva alongside members of The Notwist. Since then, she has released six studio albums, composed music for numerous films and theater productions (including Gob Squad), and now brings her rich artistry to the stage live with her band.
