To kick off this year's Fokus Tanz, three experts will speak about mobility and mobilisation from their own perspectives. One after the other, they will give short introductory talks about their research and artistic practice, after which we will open the space for an exchange, also with the audience. The event will take place at Kampnagel and will be broadcast live on Zoom. From communal transport systems and lack of accessibility to movement flows across the planet, Mimi Sheller's research spans a wide range of mobility issues against a backdrop of discrimination and privilege, racialised border politics and tourism. Michael Turinsky explores the phenomenology of the body marked as "disabled", its relationship to temporality and rhythm, gender and sexuality as well as visibility and opacity. From his perspective as a disabled artist, Tebandeke Joseph defines dance less as simple physical movement and more as poetic expression with strong connections to his ancestors.
