DJ Stingray 313 / Animistic Beliefs / Best Boy Electric / Phuong-Dan
Euphoric driving sounds of the Detroit techno and Underground Resistance legend DJ Stingray 313 and the electro-revolutionaries Animistic Beliefs between breakbeats and 4-to-the-floor, with support from Hamburg.
DJ Stingray 313 is one of the most prominent figures of electro and techno from the early days. Not only was he the founder of the style-defining Urban Tribe, which includes icons such as Anthony Shakir, Carl Craig, and Kenny Dixon Jr., but as a DJ he was also part of the live shows of the legendary Detroit project Drexciya. The duo Animistic Beliefs from Rotterdam deconstructs classic structures of techno into unheard hybrid forms. Pre-colonial thinking and traditions linked to origins are formative
inspirations that the duo uses to explore experiences as Queers of Color living in the Netherlands. Best Boy Electric is a DJ, promoter and selector who advocates for more FLINTA* presence in clubs. Their focus is on classic Detroit electro – with a penchant for punk; their sets are sometimes wavey, EBM-ish, but mostly there’s electro in all facets. Phuong-Dan is a member of the Summer Festival team, label owner and DJ in clubs worldwide. His sets are marked by a characteristic tendency to break styles and unite the most diverse worlds.
