Israel Galván is one of the most well-known contemporary flamenco dancers in Europe. He performs at major festivals and stages with his own award-winning works and collaborates with internationally sought-after artists such as choreographer Marlene Monteiro Freitas, who has been a guest at the Kampnagel Summer Festival several times with acclaimed productions. Galván has redefined the dance language of flamenco by combining classical movement sequences with forms of expression from pop and queer culture. At Kunstverein, he meets Mathias Rassin, a protagonist of hip hop culture. Rassin, a multi-award-winning and world-renowned dancer, has been involved in the hip hop scene since its origins in the 1980s. He works as a trainer in renowned dance schools and on tv, and has developed works for major stages with choreographers such as Johanna Faye, Amala Dianor and Saïdo Lehlouh. As part of his live program CORE, curated for the Kunstmeile, Saïdo Lehlouh invites these two pioneers to meet for the first time in a powerful and virtuosic duet.
