In their joint works, Johanna Faye and Saïdo Lehlouh have developed a new form of contemporary dance while remaining true to their deep connection to hip-hop culture. In their work EARTHBOUND, initially conceived for the stage, they search for similarities, frictions and permeabilities in their gestures with a diverse cast of dancers who are all masters of their styles. To the compelling sound of live compositions by Mackenzy Bergile, NSDOS and Lumi Sow, they merge into an overwhelming celebration of this rich underground culture and of the immense power of community. The work was most recently adapted for the museum space at the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris and will now be presented as part of the live program CORE, curated by Saïdo Lehlouh for Kunstmeile Hamburg, and in dialogue with the exhibition "Survival in the 21st Century" in Halle für aktuelle Kunst at Deichtorhallen.
