Artist Talk: Lola Arias
Following her latest play, Argentine director Lola Arias and her actors will be presenting the feature film that complements the play. REAS reconstructs the time spent in an Argentine women's prison by and with former inmates, creating a brilliant interplay between reality and fiction. Shot in a former prison, the film tells the story of individuals like Yoseli, who is arrested for drug dealing, or Nacho, a young transgender man incarcerated for fraud, who forms a band in prison. In musical scenes, the actors dance and sing about their past, relive their lives as fiction, and thus invent a possible future for themselves. “A masterpiece of possibilities, a documentary which shows the resilience of our human spirit and how hope, art and just a little imagination can change the walls built around us into open air spaces.” (International Cinephile Society)
