The works of dancer, choreographer, and composer Mackenzy Bergile speak of the versatility of the an artist who was crowned world champion in hip hop in 2017, also works as a model and collaborated with Saïdo Lehlouh for TÉMOIN and EARTHBOUND, as a dancer, musician and composer. As part of Lehlouhs program CORE that showcases performances throughout Kunstmeile Hamburg, Mackenzy Bergile now presents AUTOTHÉRAPIE at Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe: In his choreographic essay, he deconstructs colonial representations and symbols that are deeply engraved in the consciousness of the African diaspora and draws connections between France's colonial history, the Haitian past and the African-American past. Together with dancer Mayvis William, Bergile creates a dialog of words and gestures that become a cathartic manifesto in the hall of mirrors and on the terrace of MKG.
