Fokus Tanz #10 Sorry Not Sorry
SORRY NOT SORRY! It’s Fokus Tanz’s birthday! For the tenth edition, Kampnagel has invited Dan Daw Creative Projects (DDCP) to jointly curate a program across the entire site. The festival challenges ableist habits of festival programming as well as normative expectations of dance from a non-disabled perspective. SORRY NOT SORRY uncondition- ally demands space for queer crip aesthetics in front of and behind the scenes, without apologizing – in a dance scene that is still almost exclusively led by non-disabled people. For two weeks, the Kampnagel site will change and try out how things could be different: Pre-show access, alternative seating, artistic audio descriptions and DGS translations, relaxed performance spaces and a redesigned foyer invite you to identify and overturn ableist norms.

With Sophia Neises (winner of the 2023 German Dance Award), Rita Mazza and Unusual Symptoms (invited to the 2024 Dance Platform), Anajara Amarante and Rayne J. Raney, SORRY NOT SORRY presents very different works from the German dance scene, and thus builds on the work of the German disabled artists and curators who have created these structures for years and decades. International works by Dançando com a Diferença & Marlene Monteiro Freitas, B. Solomon, Jerron Hermann and Shrouk El Attar aka Dancing Queer will also be present in Hamburg - either for the first time or as old Kampnagel friends. Come and stay!
At the SORRY NOT SORRY festival, we offer discounted tickets for disabled, chronically ill, deaf and neurodivergent people. These can be purchased in the webshop, by phone or at the box office. Use the code notsorry (tickets: 8 euros) for the shows Thunderbird's Transformation, With or Without You, Harmonia, Matters of Rhythm, and Butching Cowboys and the code notsorryk6 (tickets: 12 euros) for ÔSS. All other events are free of charge or free choice of price on site. Please do not book the discounted tickets if you do not belong to one of these groups.
When required, we offer a personal pick-up service from nearby subway or bus stations, for example for blind and visually impaired persons. As our capacities are not unlimited, please send us an e-mail to barrierefreiheit@kampnagel.de or contact us on 040 270 949 323. Please let us know your name, a telephone number where we can reach you, the date of your visit to our theater, your arrival time and bus stop, and which play you will attend. We will then get back to you promptly and confirm your request.
